Parenting News: Mums Have 26 Tasks on Their To-Do List Each Morning

When it comes to being a mum, having a good memory is key as new research shows mums will have 26 tasks on their to-do lists each morning.

Everything from packing school lunches, feeding the pets and making sure their child’s PE kit is packed are essentials for UK mums.

As if trying to get 26 tasks completed before leaving the house wasn’t bad enough, mums then have to contend with tantrums, accidents and mood swings.

Monday’s were voted the toughest day of the week due to having relaxed at the weekend.

The study was commissioned by eye awareness campaign Jul-Eye, and spokesman Andy Hepworth said, “With 26 things to juggle on a daily basis it’s no wonder mums forget important tasks.

“It’s clear they are the heartbeat of the household and are constantly working to ensure a great home life for their loved ones.”

Sadly, 85 per cent of mums said that the workload can often become too much for them and it doesn’t help that for 70 per cent of mums, they’re the only ones doing any work.

Seven in ten women are doing all child-related tasks single-handedly with no help from their partner.

This in turn caused 60 per cent of couples arguing due to mum being relied on too heavily trying to remember things for everyone else.

Having so many tasks to remember has often led mums to make some disastrous mistakes, with one in eight mums forgetting to pick their children up from school!

A quarter of mums have suffered from forgetting their child needed a fancy dress outfit for school and have had to stay up late throwing something together for the next day.

Incredibly, as well as the 26 small tasks, mums are also taking on 12 major tasks including organising mealtimes as well as carrying out domestic chores.

In fact, at least six hours and 45 minutes a day are dedicated to keeping family life running smoothly!
