What Is It?

Blippar took off in 2011 around Europe and is famed for ‘magic’ lens which takes normal things such as pictures and adverts and turns them into a fun, interactive and informative experience by bringing them to life. Ann Summers have now teamed up with them to launch the world’s first interactive lingerie service, known as the BlippTease campaign.

Once you’ve downloaded the Blippar app, you can then go to the Ann Summers website, scan the picture on the lingerie page (with the Blippar logo on it) with the Blippar app and then you can browse through the new collections and, the best part, try them on using your camera.

Choose from the large range and the image will layer over your camera, allowing for you to take a picture of yourself in the underwear. You can then send it a sexy picture onto your lover or post it to your Facebook and Twitter for opinions!

We Love:

The idea is fantastic, not only can you try before you buy without leaving you house but you can then buy the products straight away from your phone or tablet. Blippar are also offering an exclusive 10 per cent discount to Ann Summers customers to use in-store or online when the purchase anything from the range.

That brings us to the range itself. We love all the different styles, from the Hollywood collection which is filled with black lace designs, to the beautifully girly and feminine Elouise collection. It’s impossible for us to choose a favourite because they’re all fabulous, so we’ll leave that one to you.

It’s super easy to navigate, you can look through every collection with ease and it’s easy to buy the pieces that you’ve fallen for.

Downfall:

It was a bit difficult to know exactly what to do at first; do you scan the underwear on screen? Is there a catalogue to choose from in the app? It took a good ten minutes to figure out how to work it but once you understood that you have to scan a specific Blippar ready picture (which can be found here) it was simple to navigate.

Unfortunately, it’s not so easy when actually ‘trying on’ the lingerie. It’s difficult to do yourself, as you have to hold the camera away from you to make the lingerie fit you correctly. You’ll also need a mirror to line yourself up properly as you cannot use the front camera on an iPhone to take the picture, which would be handy.

Also, it doesn’t give you any indication of size, so it would help to be professionally fitted before you buy anything as although it may look good on the app, it could look completely different if you’re ordering the wrong size.

Verdict:

The Blippar app is an incredible piece of technology and combined with Ann Summers they’ve made something truly useful. The ranges are great and the idea behind the trying on process is fantastic, although it could use a little tweaking.

It’s definitely worth the download as it’s free and can be used with a number of brands as well as Ann Summers. It certainly takes the hassle out of going to the shops and adds another dimension to online shopping with its ‘try me on’ mode.
