What Is It?

The Ice Break is an app that allows you to stay in constant contact with your partner, allowing you to share your day with them and to get you to know your partner a little better each day! There are a range of functions, such as a private wall for you and your partner to speak privately on as well as a range of ice breaker questions that are designed to get you and your partner debating topics.

You can also share pictures with each other so that you can share the moments of each other’s day together as well as being able to edit those pictures to include your own drawings. There is also the option just to draw little doodles to each other throughout the day.

You are also scored on how many thing you share each day with your partner. The app will update you weekly on your scores and then offer suggestions on how you can improve them, meaning you can in turn improve your relationship!

We Love:

It’s great for keeping in contact and being able to share pictures with each other privately. The icebreaker questions are really quite fun and allow you to share your opinions on things that you may not necessarily have talked about whilst being a couple. Also, most likely unintentionally, the responses from other people on the icebreakers are hilarious and give you a good giggle.

You can comment on each other’s posts to your wall which spark some interesting conversations between you and your partner and can often turn out to be rather comical.

The draw part of the app is really handy and fun, almost like a Draw Something app, and it’s often nice to see your partner’s handwriting rather than just standard text. You can also draw over pictures which can be entertaining as well as romantic, so everyone is catered for!

Downfall:

It takes a while to get used to the app, it doesn’t make it clear that you’ve paired with a partner and you have to do some experimenting before fully getting to grips with the app. It would be nice to have some demos/instructions to walk you through the set-up.

There doesn’t seem to be an instant messaging option. On your private wall there is the option to post pictures and share moments as well as icebreakers but it doesn’t appear that you can just write on the wall as you would with other communication apps. It would be great if there was a whatsapp sort of set up involved too!

Verdict:

Certainly a useful app and greatly entertaining for couples. It will help you to keep in contact and has some lovely personal touches that seem to be getting lost more and more in the digital age. For a free app it’s definitely worth the download!
