Valentine's Day on Female First

Social displays of affection: We get it- you have sex with each other- but do you really need to mount each other like dogs on the park bench? People have been doing ‘sex’ for a lot of years now- we know how it goes- so keep it in your bedroom please! There is nothing worse than a slobbering snog fest going on near you, with her straddled over him showing her builder’s bum- NOT sexy!

People posting boastful pictures of their Valentine's gifts on social media: People gushing about their partner online- If I see one more- ‘my partner got me flowers- look!’ Or ‘he’s just booked a surprise weekend away for me and him to Paris’, urgh! Or the worst- ‘I love him so much he is the best thing that’s ever happened to me’- yep, my stomach is turning!

The day dominating conversation: It's one day! Seriously! If you can’t be bothered to let your partner know much they mean to you the rest of the year then just don’t bother!

Seeing smug couples celebrating everywhere: Every restaurant they gaze seductively over each other’s drinks, every street, they are walking hand in hand, every supermarket they are cramming last minute items through the self-service tills, stopping you from getting your stuff. 364 days we spend arguing, resenting one another, bitching about our partners, but this one day we will look like we are madly in love and pretend that we are the happiest couple in the room!

Not having a date on Valentine's evening- When the world is one one big date, finding that you are alone on this day can cream your corn but hey- you are not paying WAY over the odds for your food or feeling the pressure the compete with hundreds of other couples who try to look like the most sickeningly sweet pair. Think about it!
