Prince Charles

Prince Charles

Britain's Prince Charles was the busiest member of the Royal Family last year with more than 500 visits.

The Prince of Wales took part in 442 engagements in the UK and 95 on official overseas tours meaning he went on 537 visits in total in the year he celebrated reaching 65, while his mother Queen Elizabeth reduced her workload.

Despite not travelling overseas last year, the 87-year-old monarch still racked up an incredible 344 engagements.

Princess Anne attended the second most royal engagements with 455, 432 in Britain and 22 overseas, while 92-year-old Prince Philip still managed to attend 180 engagements in the UK and four abroad, despite spending 11 days in hospital in June while exploratory work was carried out on his abdomen.

Prince William, 31, and Duchess Catherine, 31 - who became new parents in July when the Duchess of Cambridge gave birth to their first child, Prince George - attended 62 and 44 engagements respectively, while Charles' wife Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, managed 246 visits in 2013 - 175 in Britain and 71 overseas.

Despite racking up the fewest royal engagements of the senior royals with just 52, Prince Harry had a very busy 2013 as he embarked on his second tour of duty in Afghanistan and recently returned from a 208-mile charity trek to the South Pole in aid of Walking with the Wounded.
