Hannah asks :

My makeup looks great in the morning, but throughout the day it gets really patchy and I find myself having to constantly touch it up. It just clings to certain areas of the face. What am I doing wrong? I've tried numerous foundations but nothing seems to work.

Patchy make-up is a problem for many women, and most seem to think it's the foundation's problem - but it's not.

It's all to do with the levels of hydration in your skin. If your make-up is clinging to various parts of the face after a few hours wear, it means your skin is craving hydration and absorbing as much water as it can from your makeup, therefore leaving it patchy in places.

Your skin is dehydrated. You can still have oily skin and it be dehydrated, your skin can seem pretty normal and it can be dehydrated. Tell tale signs of dehydrated skin include patchy make-up and your fact feeling tight after you've washed it.

So, don't worry about the foundation you're using at the minute. The first thing you need to change is your skincare routine.

You need to add plenty of productions that are filled with hyaluronic acid which will increase moisture levels in the skin. Whether you do this with oils, serums, day creams or night creams and even face masks it needs to be done. There are plenty of different products out there on the market that include this ingredient, so do some research and find out which one will be best for you.

If you use a toner in your skincare routine, which everyone should, change it to a hydrating version as this will help replenish the skin after moisturising.
