During this week's WWDC 2021 event, the tech giant announced its new mechanism, which is based on WebAuthn and word be introduced as passkeys in iCloud Keychain.

As reported by Tech Radar, Apple's Garrett Davidson said: "In most cases, it just takes a single tap or click to sign in.

"And they’re stronger than most password-plus-second-factor solutions out there today, thanks to the combined security of WebAuthn and iCloud Keychain."

He added that while the passkeys only work with Apple devices for now, there could be a solution that enables them across other companies' products.
