The tech giant has unveiled a boost for its video conference app to make it easier to find people wanting to speak during a call.

The "gradual rollout" started on Wednesday (16.06.21), with the company aiming to help "notice and address raised hands".

As part of the update, there's been an improvement to the "visual icon and animation on the video tile", while the tiles of those who have raised their hands can be moved into a "more visible spot" in the grid.

There will also be "an audio notification for all participants when the first raised hand is raised".

Another welcome addition to help people leading calls is the "clickable notification" to display the number of people with raised hands, and an ordered queue showing who did so first.

Finally, a participant's hand will be lowered automatically once they've spoken.

For admins and end users, the feature "will be on by default".

As noted by Google, the feature will be available for users with Workspace Essentials, Business Standard, Business Plus, Enterprise Essentials, Enterprise Standard, Enterprise Plus, Education Fundamentals, Education Plus, Nonprofits, as well as G Suite Business customers.
