Christmas

Christmas

While there’s nothing like the excitement and anticipation that surrounds the advent of Christmas, it’s undeniable that the long queues in shops, traffic jams at every turn, and pressure of fulfilling your social calendar, can leave some people tired and exhausted.

For a relaxing and stress-free Christmas, cottages4you, the UK’s leading letting agency, has specially selected some out of the way, secluded retreats for those who want to get away from all the hype and stress and enjoy some quality time with friends and family.

And this Christmas, cottages4you has launched four and five night stays for both Christmas and New Year, meaning families and friends wanting to get away for the holidays have the flexibility to take a real break that works around their schedules.

Park, Sanday, Orkney Islands

A cosy hideaway, with spectacular sea views, in a very remote area, Park, a former croft, is perfectly placed to get away from it all. A traditional stone cottage, it stands alone, amidst acres of grass land. Long beaches are close by, the nearest just 200 yards away, where there is rarely anyone else in sight, with only the lighthouse, birds and seals for company.

Priced from £355 for seven nights self catering accommodation arriving 23rd or 30th December 2010, sleeps three people with room for two pets (from £16.90 pppn)

Culverchalet, Bembridge, Isle of Wight

Offering superb views over the coastline and stunning cliff formations, this chalet makes a peaceful holiday retreat. Just east of Bembridge and set in a secluded area with only two other properties, it is surrounded by open land with woods at the rear, ensuring almost total privacy. Whitecliff Bay Beach is a five minute walk away to the scenic Culver Down.

Dove Cottage, Brighstone

This delightful detached holiday cottage, set in its own grounds down a country lane, is in an Area of Natural Beauty within the picturesque village of Brighstone. This property is just mile away from beaches and coves, coastal and country walking and cycling routes including ’The Tennyson Trail’. Within easy reach of Freshwater Bay, Carisbrooke Castle, Calbourne Mill and Blackgang Chine. For those looking to stay in, there is a games table in the garage which includes nine different games.

The Cider House, Landrake, near Saltash

The Cider House is a stone detached barn set in idyllic private gardens and grounds in an Area of Natural Beauty with much wildlife including a badger sett, and many species of bird nesting in the woods and along the river bank. There is a little pond and ornamental bridge to the front of the holiday cottage, and the grounds extend to 25 acres, including pasture land, a wooded valley and down to the River Tiddy. The cottage has the added bonus of a games room/play den, with a billiard table, table tennis, drum kit and 42’’ screen.
