Bedroom at Double Tree Hilton

Bedroom at Double Tree Hilton

Be wary as there are two Hilton hotels in the area and this is the second one on your right! We made the mistake of going to the wrong one, so I’m speaking from experience! The hotel entrance is down a side street so it is best to ask someone along the way where it is as it is not very visible from the roadside.

We were greeted by Francisco at reception, who provided us with a locally made chocolate chip cookie each and got us to fill in the paperwork. Our room was not ready so he asked the concierge Paul to store our bags for us until we could check in later in the day. This was ideal for us so we didn’t have to take our bags around the city and on the tube.

The room was on the top floor and was quiet as the hotel was on the outskirts of the city, so we had a peaceful night’s sleep.  It was decorated to a very high standard with a beautiful strip of wallpaper with the silhouette of a tree which tied in perfectly with the surroundings as there was a park just across the road. The room was small, however had everything we needed. There was a flat screen wall mounted TV, a large bed, dressing table, wardrobe, espresso maker, air con and two bottles of water were provided in the fridge upon arrival.

The bathroom was also small; however the hotel had not scrimped on tasteful decoration, with a bath, shower, lit mirror and a selection of Crabtree and Evelyn products were on offer.

When we arrived back to check in, Paul offered to take our bags upstairs for us, which he did within 5 minutes of us arriving in the room. We were given room keys, some more cookies and shown where our evening meal and breakfast would be.

The breakfast was buffet style and the restaurant was opened up to host a wide selection of continental and English breakfast buffet options. The staff were very attentive with refills of coffee, tea and fresh orange juice.

Overall, the hotel was a mere 10 minutes’ walk from the Bayswater tube station, so had great access to the rest of the city.  It is perfect for families as it is quiet and is outside of the bustle and business end of the city. The staff were friendly and extremely helpful when it came to the check in process, helping in any way they could. They offered to arrange a taxi for us on departure too which reinforced their high standard of service even as we were walking out of the door.

Thanks to Francisco, Paul and the rest of the London Double Tree by Hilton staff for a great stay!
