Revenge season three begins January 6

Revenge season three begins January 6

As if there wasn't enough television shows to keep up with, we've decided to take a look at ten we can't wait to dig into in the New Year!

Sherlock - series 3

The year will kick off on January 1 with the start of a brand new series of Sherlock, much to the delight of global fans.

Many fans thought the mastermind had died at the end of the second series, but it has been revealed that he lives on and is ready to take on the most villainous character yet, portrayed by Danish actor Lars Mikkelsen.

Revenge - season 3

Revenge is back

Just how will Emily Thorne get out of this one?

She's admitted to childhood flame Jack that she's actually Amanda, and her world is on the verge of being torn apart completely, but it's one fired bullet that will truly captivate fans in the first few minutes of the new season as we feel we inch closer to exposing the Graysons for the evil family they truly are along with our favourite anti-hero, Emily.

The Voice UK - series 3

We've got half a brand new line-up, and the return of Sir Tom Jones and will.i.am, and those of us who have stuck with the show throughout the first two series have high hopes that Ricky Wilson and the legendary Kylie Minogue will give it the much-needed kick up the backside to make sure it returns to the top of people's 'want to watch' lists. New twists have been promised and slight changes to the format, and so it will be interesting to see if they get the formula right this time round.

The Following - season 2

Kevin Bacon in season one of The Following

January 21 will see the second season of The Following air on Sky Atlantic, and the questions about just who survived the masses of destruction in the final episode of the first season will finally be answered.

Kevin Bacon returns - but will James Purefoy, or will his evil reign have come to an end, only for a new cult of killers to carry on his bidding?

Game of Thrones - season 4

Will Daenerys reign supreme in season 4?

There's no set return date for Game of Thrones as of yet, but it's been promised that the UK will be getting the first episode of the new season the day after the US. Those who have read the books know what to expect, and those who haven't have some amazing surprises ahead of them, with more deaths, weddings and shocks lined up to make this the most exhiliarating season yet.

Broadchurch - series 2

Olivia Colman and David Tennant starred in Broadchurch

It's still in very early stages, but when fans of the first series saw that Broadchurch would be coming back with a brand new whole host of episodes, they got excited like never before. It was arguably the best crime drama of the year - if not the decade - and it'll be interesting to see how Olivia Colman's fantastic acting will play into her character's development and the progress of the show.

Hannibal - season 2

Mads Mikkelsen as Dr. Hannibal Lecter

Shockingly brilliant was the first season of a movie-to-screen remake in Hannibal, and aside from the lack of understanding of the quiet and afflected voice of Mads Mikkelsen who plays Lecter at points, the brilliant acting did more than enough to bring this to the attention of every lover of television. If you've not seen it, catch up before the confirmed second season gets an air-date - you won't regret it.

Bates Motel - season 2

Freddie Highmore as Norman Bates

Similarly, people were worried that the legend of Psycho and Norman Bates would be tainted with the announcement of a television series, but if anything it surely brought more fans to the movie and the horror genre as a whole. With fantastic performances from Vera Farmiga and Freddie Highmore as the psychotic mother/son duo,

Doctor Who - Season 8

Peter Capaldi will take on the role of the Doctor

Autumn of next year will see the complete step-into-shoes by Peter Capaldi of the world's most-loved Doctor, as he becomes the 12th - but technically 14th - Doctor Who. The BBC have done a fantastic job in bringing this series back to our screens, and we have high hopes that Capaldi will be able to bring something to the role that we haven't seen before.

Devious Maids - Season 2

The Devious Maids cast has us besotted

Left with one cliffhanger upon another, the first season of Devious Maids was truly something to be admired. The final episode (it's a cracker!) airs tomorrow night on TLC at 10pm, and you'll be left wanting more as soon as the credits roll. There are sure to be more thrills than ever before - because as one door closes, another (few in the case of these maids!) open.
