Hawkeye is Disney+ and Marvel’s latest series to release, and fans seem rather pleased with how things turned out. Episodes three and four of the six-part series introduced Clint Barton’s (Jeremy Renner) iconic trick arrows, and there were plenty to take note of...

Hawkeye saw Clint Barton dragged into an accidental mess caused by Hawkeye fan, Kate Bishop (Hailee Steinfeld), when she put on the Ronin suit in order to hide her identity at an event she wasn’t supposed to attend.

From then on, Clint helps Kate fix her mess, while staying in New York to keep her safe, swapping Christmas with his family for a dangerous mission he wanted no part of.

Within the series, to get back at the Tracksuit Mafia, Clint and Kate utilise a whole host of trick arrows to put an end to some villainous plans; here is every trick arrow the duo used.

Putty Arrow

The putty arrow (or as Kate calls it, the “Play-doh” arrow) is one of the first trick arrows to be used within the show, namely Episode 3, which was titled Echoes

In one particular scene, the crack-shot team are on the run from the Mafia, and in an attempt to stop them in their tracks, Kate fires a putty arrow that lands directly on the bad guys’ windshield. This causes purple goo to bubble, effectively blocking their line of sight.

Explosive arrow

After using the putty arrow, Kate makes a grab for an explosive arrow which, as you can imagine, sent a little more worry down the bad guys’ spines.

Kate shoots a truck that is chasing down both her and Clint which explodes after the arrow blinks red. The truck is then seen gliding along the road while ablaze, with nothing really left of the vehicle itself.

Plunger arrow

Another trick arrow launched by Kate in the third episode is the plunger arrow which, at first, leaves the superhero wannabe a little disappointed.

However, when she and Clint are in need of a way off the bridge, and fast, this arrow comes in handy as Clint recovers a previously shot arrow and uses it to stick to the side of a train in order to escape; this leads Kate to exclaim “Now I get the whole plunger arrow thing!”

Web Arrow

This is the only trick arrow that goes unnamed within the show, but Web Arrow or Spider-Web Grapple Arrow are terms used by fans who weren’t sure what else to call it.

This trick arrow, upon impact, fires multiple wire lines that seemingly have grapple points (and appear to be retractable), as the arrow’s dispersed wires grab onto the many trees at a Christmas tree sale in which Kate and Clint speed through.

The wires then pull themselves back in, putting many trees in the way of the Mafia’s vehicle.

Acid Arrow

While Clint is too busy driving, the Avenger gives Kate two acid arrows and directs to her to take out the stoplights.

Once Kate shoots her perfect shots, the acid melts away at each stoplight and causes them to fall to the ground, where only panic and traffic collisions can follow, creating a decent obstacle for the Mafia following them.

Smoke Bomb Arrow

Clint, still in the same chase that the first putty arrow was used in, becomes engaged in a fight with Maya (Alaqua Cox), but Kate is to the rescue.

Kate grabs her bow from the back seat of the Dodge Challenger, and fires a smoke bomb arrow, which of course distorts Maya’s vision.

Pym Arrow

This arrow is one of the most exciting trick arrows used in Hawkeye, and Clint is the first to put it to use. He asks Kate to fire a regular arrow high into the sky, after which he released the Pym arrow, which enlarges Kate’s arrow and causes a decent amount of destruction.

The now massive arrow crashes into the back of a Mafia vehicle, rendering it completely useless.

USB Arrow

The USB arrow is fired by Kate per the instruction of her favourite superhero. This arrow is rather clever, as it can be used to collect information from a fair distance away.

This arrow was also seen in the eighth episode of What If..., but was put to more use in the aforementioned series, as within Hawkeye, it simply did nothing other than provide a distraction.

Grapple Arrow

Clint’s grapple arrow is somewhat iconic, as it was seen in the slow-motion scene within Avengers: Assemble in 2012, and a shot that was also seen in Episode 1 of Hawkeye, as young Kate saw her favourite Avenger jump from a building and use this arrow to land inside the building below.

In the series, Clint uses the grapple arrow to provide and escape for himself and Kate, after their chase with the Mafia.
