Colony is the exciting new drama series focusing on Los Angeles, a once-great city which has been occupied and turned into something utterly different to the one we're used to.

Finally making its way onto UK screens, we delved deeper to find out everything we could about the series before its British debut.

What's the show about?

The official synopsis for Colony reads:

"From executive producers Carlton Cuse ("Lost") and Ryan Condal ("Hercules") comes USA's newest, highly-anticipated drama COLONY. Set in the very near future, COLONY centers on one family's struggle to survive and bring liberty back to the people of an occupied Los Angeles. SAG winner Josh Holloway ("Lost") stars as former FBI agent Will Bowman and Satellite Award winner Sarah Wayne Callies ("The Walking Dead") stars as his wife, Katie, in the series which takes place in a dangerous world of divided ideologies. While some choose to collaborate with the occupation and benefit from the new order, others rebel and suffer the consequences. After being separated from their son during the invasion, Will and Katie are willing to do whatever is necessary to be reunited with him. Thus, when the powerful Proxy Snyder (Peter Jacobson, "House") offers Will a chance to get his son back if he will collaborate with the occupational government, Will and Katie find themselves faced with the toughest decision of their lives. They will have to go beyond whatever they thought possible, risking their lives and their relationship to protect their family."

So, it's dramatic, explosive and has some form of alien invasion. Count us IN.

Who's in the cast?

Josh Holloway leads the way as FBI Agent Will Bowman, the patriarch of a family not yet willing to give in and allow the invaders determine which path their lives should take. With his life forever changed following the invasion, he was forced to change employment, becoming an auto mechanic to provide for those he loved, but he's still aching to find information that will help him locate his lost son Charlie, who went missing as a result of the 'Arrival'.

Sarah Wayne Callies stars as partner Katie Bowman, a woman who doesn't want her children to be put in danger. Before the Arrival, Katie owned a popular bar called the Yonk, but the invasion forced her to close down and find other means of supporting her loved ones.

Her younger sister Maddie, played by Amanda Righetti, has her own problems. Her son Hudson is diabetic, which the Transitional Authority (more on them later), have deemed "unworthy for treatment". Before the Arrival, Maddie enjoyed wealth as an art gallery owner, and her husband was away in New York when the invasion occured. Not seeing him since, Maddie's forced to use her personality and connections to climb the social ladder in this new world.

Peter Jacobson is Proxy Snyder, a charismatic problem solver and leader of the Transitional Authority in Los Angeles. Proving his political skills, he leads all aspects of the Occupation after the Arrival with the Transitional Authority tasked with keeping order and stability in LA. Despite his talents, he knows he needs someone like Will Bowman to combat the threat the Resistance are putting up - will his manipulation techniques work out when it comes to the Bowman family?

Broussard (Tory Kittles) rounds off the characters we've been given some information about. A ruthless gunman, he's critical in the Resistance movement growing in LA since the Arrival. Relying on his guerrila warfare and skills in spycraft to fight, his ability to forge some key alliances could see some great benefits for the cause.
