With episode 9 looming, we've taken a look at what to expect from 'The Watchers on the Wall' - an episode promising to be bigger than those that have come before it.

1) Death

Can we possibly take anymore deaths? This season has probably seen more disembowelments, head-popping and 'sticking 'em with the pointy end' moments than ever before, but if one thing's for certain it's that this isn't going to let up in the infamous ninth episode. Expect the worst so as not to be left upset.

2) A major battle

"I hear this new battle is even bigger and better than the Blackwater scene." said George R.R. Martin when discussing a "gigantic" battle sequence set to take place in the forthcoming episode. With Neil Marshall directing, it should make for fantastic viewing.

3) Jon Snow to finally know something

'You know nothing, Jon Snow' is a catchphrase that's caught on after Ygritte repeated it time and time again during season 3, but we've actually realised this time around that he knows more than most, hoping to prepare those on The Wall to come face to face with Mance's army but meeting aggression and judgement each time he tries to bring it up. We have a feeling that after 'The Watchers on the Wall' airs, he'll be proved right.

4) Giants

See those massive feet in the trailer? Those belong to giants, and they're not afraid to get their hands dirty. We've seen glimpses of them but expect them to look more menacing, frightening and vicious than ever. The special effects should be out of this world.

5) Ygritte to make a decision

It seems that for now she's with the Wildlings and Mance's army, but when Ygritte comes closer to Jon Snow and his Watcher friends, will she change allegiances and move over to the Wall in a bid for love, or will she attempt to bring an end to the Crows once and for all?

6) To feel cold

It's expected that because of the scale of the events that are going to take place, a massive chunk if not all of the episode will be focused solely on the happenings at The Wall. So, if you're one who feels the cold when you see it on-screen, wrap up warm - it's going to be a frosty one.

7) A curveball for readers of the series

The bosses at Game of Thrones like to throw in a thing or two so that even readers of the books will be surprised, such as the murder of Rob's wife and unborn child last season. We wouldn't be surprised if this happened once more.

8) Despair

Ned Stark's head. Tyrion's face. The Red Wedding. Has there ever been a ninth episode where we haven't been left feeling like a deflated balloon when all is said and done?

9) Chaos

Fire, blood and explosions will just be the tip of the iceberg. Will we know the fate of some of our favourite characters when all is said and done, or will we be left hanging? With 100,000 Wildlings in the mix, it'll be hard to gauge what's going on before things come to an end.

Game of Thrones continues Monday, June 9 at 9pm on Sky Atlantic and Sky Atlantic HD.
