NOTE: Book spoilers for the George R.R. Martin series

HBO have revealed the title of their Game of Thrones season five finale, and according to The Wall Street Journal it will be 'Mother's Mercy'. This comes after episode nine - titled 'The Dance of Dragons', and next week's eighth episode 'Hardhome'.

Not giving away much, the full synopsis for the last episode reads: "Stannis marches. Dany is surrounded by strangers. Cersei seeks forgiveness. Jon is challenged."

The title 'Mother's Mercy' was mentioned in the latest Game of Thrones episode by the High Sparrow, who offered it to Cersei as an alternative to going on trial.

However, fans of course have been looking deeper into the meaning and many think that this may finally give us what all book readers have been waiting for - the emergence of Lady Stoneheart.

Lady Stoneheart is a character resurrected from the dead and none other that Catelyn Stark. Despite both the bosses of the series and actress Michelle Fairley swearing the storyline isn't in play for now, there are plenty who simply do not believe them, and a couple of items of evidence that say she's just around the corner.

For example, images of a prosthetic and horrificly lifelike Cately Stark head have been floating around on Twitter and the internet. Not only this, but Fairley was listed as appearing in episode 10 of season five on IMDB as a 'Hooded Woman', in a listing that was swiftly pulled from the site.

Then if you look at the appendix for the book A Feast For Crows, Lady Stoneheart has alises listed - one of which is 'Mother Mercy'. It's all adding up!

There is of course the possibility that fans are simply being teased. 'Mother's Mercy' could mean a variety of things - the offer being made to Cersei by the High Sparrow being the most likely. What do you make of the rumours? Would you like to see Michelle Fairley back in the show?

Game of Thrones continues on Sunday on HBO, simulcast in the UK on Sky Atlantic and repeated Mondays in the UK on the same channel at 9pm.
