Marvel are blowing all expectations out of the water with their Disney+ offerings; we’ve had WandaVision, which brought amazing depth to potentially two of Marvel’s most interesting characters, we’re in the middle of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, which is giving the characters much needed spotlight, and after a small break, Loki will be gracing the streaming service.

Fans adore Loki, partly due to actor Tom Hiddleston playing him flawlessly for so many years; and of course because of the mischievous nature of the lovable rogue. Now, he will finally be the centre of attention.

From June 11th, 2021, we will be able to see what Loki has been up to since the events of 2019’s Avengers: Endgame, when Loki stole the Tesseract and escaped from the Avengers, breaking reality in doing so.

In a trailer released earlier this week, we are given more information about the plot, and reasons as to why Loki seems to be both in and out of prison.

The God of Mischief has been captured by the Time Variance Authority (TVA), due to him shattering reality - as explained by Mobius M. Mobius (Owen Wilson). They do, however, need the trickster’s help to fix what he broke in the first place.

We’re treated to a visual masterpiece of a trailer which, looking back at Marvel’s track record, is to be expected. The small collection of scenes we're treated to give us an insight into the journey we'll see Loki undertake.

Just a few frames give us a glimpse at a burning planet, doors to a great hall and, a throne that looks as though it's in Loki and Thor's home, Asgard.

Hiddleston’s Loki is shown in a different light here, as we see more of his fighting skills, his charming yet menacing demeanour, and his cunning way of thinking; it’s almost criminal we’ve had to wait so long to see it!

While we see more of what this character has to offer, Loki still seems to be the same old wily, witty and self-adoring character we know him to be.

Of course, the trailer wouldn’t be complete without the odd joke or sarcastic comment, including Loki asking for a weapon, and Mobius simply replying, “Nah”.

As well as all this anticipation surrounding the trailer, it of course comes with many questions. Who is Loki sat with on the burning planet? It looks like Natasha Romanoff (Scarlett Johansson), but could it actually be the Black Widow, or is this just a dream sequence dreamt up by out titular protagonist?

To be honest, Marvel are throwing so many curveballs at us as of late, we’ve got to expect the unexpected. Perhaps our anti-hero is thinking about those he’s wronged?

With Loki having a history of helping people, then betraying them (and sometimes helping again), we can only wonder if he will actually help the TVA, or try to escape and take any matters into his own hands…

The trailer has, as expected, received great momentum and feedback on social media. Fans on Twitter are thrilled to not only watch the trailer, but share their thoughts and opinions online.

Once again, Marvel have knocked it out of the park as the YouTube trailer has 12M views in just a few days – suggesting that almost everyone who’s a fan of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) will be tuning in to watch Loki.

Loki will be streaming on Disney+ from June 11th, 2021!
