Yesterday (November 12th, 2021) was the first ever Disney+ Day, which celebrated the second year of the titular streaming service. The event was filled with exciting new content, from trailers and posters, to film announcements and much more!

One of the many shows announced yesterday was Baymax!, a series set to focus on the lovable robot from Big Hero 6. This character is no doubt a fan-favourite, as his hilarious and somewhat naive personality brings joy to all who watch him.

The spinoff series will debut on the platform in 2022, so the trailer will have to do for now; this isn’t exactly bad news, however, as the teaser showcases the adorable robot trying to help those around him, which is what he does best.

Big Hero 6 was released in 2014, and followed teenage genius Hiro Hamada (Ryan Potter), who would rather fight robots he has built than attend college. However, after his brother, Tadashi (Daniel Henney) convinces him to use his brain for something important, Hiro sets his mind to work.

After a successful performance revealing his new creation, Hiro makes it into college; however, the family celebration is cut short when a fire starts at the college, taking Tadashi’s life.

Hiro feels only dismay after his brother’s death, but after he finds Baymax, the healthcare robot his brother was working on, his life begins to have meaning once more. The hilarious duo of Hiro and Baymax, along with some friends, work together to avenge Tadashi.

Big Hero 6: The Series ran from 2017 to 2021, and continued to follow Hiro and his lovable robot friend Baymax in their adventures. Despite that show ending, it seems there is still a thirst for more content from the Big Hero 6 universe.

While Baymax helped save the world by using some fighting moves Hiro taught him, Baymax! is set to see him return to his original purpose as a healthcare companion. The show will see the marshmallow-looking robot aid the citizens of the fictional city of San Fransokyo.

While there isn’t any information regarding any cast members, number or length of episodes, it is clear already that Baymax! is a highly-anticipated series, as what could be better than watching a robot, who looks like a giant balloon, care for the residents of his city?

Baymax! is set to premiere on Disney+ in the summer of next year (2022), along with a handful of other exciting series and films which were announced during yesterday’s Disney+ event.
