Families are to be given the opportunity to see some of their favourite CBeebies stars on stage in a new musical adaptation of children's classic Peter Pan.

Justin Fletcher, Ben Faulks, Katrina Bryan, Chris Jarvis, Pui Fan Lee, Katy Ashworth, Andy Day and Cat Sandion are all to make appearances in the show alongside some of the much-loved CBeebies presenters such as Alex Winters and Sid Sloane.

JM Barrie's novel has been specially adapted for the young audience, but many of the core aspects of the story will be included.

Two performances of the show are to be filmed on Saturday October 11 at The Lowry, Salford Quays for a programme that'll be the centrepiece of 2014's Christmas CBeebies schedule.

Free tickets are released at midday today - September 10 - through bbc.co.uk/showsandtours, and allocated through a ballot that's open for one week, closing midday on September 17.

BBC Learning events and activities are also to take place over the same weekend as the stage show, with no tickets needed to attend.

Running from 10am to 6pm on both Friday October 10 and Saturday October 11, the entertainment will take place outside The Lowry before the show is livestreamed on a big screen for those without tickets.

CBeebies Controller, Kay Benbow, says: “Peter Pan is a classic and enduring children’s story and we're delighted to bring this special adaptation to The Lowry with so many of our CBeebies favourite stars.”

CBeebies Peter Pan is produced by Jon Hancock and the executive producer is Tony Reed. Executive producer for BBC Learning is Moray London.
