The 40-year-old actress is set to return to Albert Square next week, and she's teased details of her long-awaited comeback on the BBC soap, admitting she's set to ruffle some feathers.

Asked what she can reveal about Janine's return to the show, Charlie told 'This Morning': "What can I tell you? High drama. Where Janine goes, drama and chaos usually follow."

Charlie is keen to explore how Janine's character has evolved in recent years and she's also eager to see how she "behaves as a mother".

The actress revealed she'll be central to a big upcoming storyline, too.

She reflected: "She's good at being bad, isn't she? So let's say we can expect a little bit more of that. And also exploring who she is underneath that and ... I think it'll be interesting to see how she behaves as a mother.

"There's a big fire that happens when I first come back, which I can't say too much about..."

Charlie hasn't appeared on 'EastEnders' since 2014, but she's delighted to have returned to the long-running soap.

The actress explained that the "timing felt right" for her to make a comeback after so many years away.

Charlie - who first appeared on 'EastEnders' in 1999 - said: "I am so happy. I'm really happy to be here back at Walford East Station and in the Square.

"You know, the timing felt right. The character had been away for a significant amount of time.

"Who knows where she's been or what she's been up to? So it's really kind of exciting to get back and explore all of that, you know?"
