The tax advisor and mobile DJ believes his fellow contestants Frank Brooks - who was project manager - and Kurran Pooni should "count themselves lucky" they weren't fired from the BBC show.
In this week's episode, contestants were tasked with creating and selling their own comics, and the boy's team opted for a story about a space explorer.
In an exclusive interview with BANG showbiz, he said: "I think any of the three of us could have gone really. Personally, although I'm not faultless, I don't think I was wholly to blame.
"It's difficult because we don't see what happens with the other team and obviously watching it back, in my mind, it was probably the project manager that would go, because he ultimately made the decision to use a dry, boring idea.
"Having watched it back - it could have been any three of us but Kurran got lucky as well because he said could sell it, he didn't sell it.
"The pitch looked dry and boring and the acting wasn't the best in the world, so I think they should both count themselves lucky."
The 32-year-old Yorkshire native thought the reason he was fired was because he didn't put himself forward as project manager. David also thinks that if he had voiced his ideas louder, he would still be in the competition.
He said: "There's a lot of big characters jostling for the limelight and I probably wasn't the biggest voice there, even though I've got all these thought's buzzing around in my mind.
"I do look back and think I should have said it louder, I should have said it stronger and I don't think I did put it across enough."
