David Blaine has broken his silence over his infamously awkward interview with Eamonn Holmes 18 years ago - insisting he didn't want to "bore" the presenter.

The US magician says he applied "less is more" tactics when he refused to speak during an appearance on 'GMTV', which Eamonn has previously described as one of his worst TV moments to date.

Discussing the exchange on ITV's 'Lorraine' nearly two decades later, the 46-year-old star said: "I didn't wanna bore him, so I figured less is more.

"Basically the last time I performed in London I was in a box for 44 days straight doing almost nothing other than breathing and writing a little bit, and drinking some water. That was the last time that I've performed here."

'This Morning' broadcaster Eamonn has also spoken about the interview, and previously admitted he was "dying" on air as he tried to make something from David's reserved responses.

He explained: "He just refused to talk and so I did all the talking and then he showed me the eye that he had drawn on his palm.

"I asked, 'What's that?' and he said, 'Protection,' and I said, 'Protection from what?' and he said, 'Death'.

"I thought, 'Well, I'll need that because I'm dying on my feet here.' "

However, a lot has changed for David over the years, and the magician has now revealed his eight-year-old daughter Dessa has already started to practice tricks of her own.

He added: "She's amazing, because she's actually really good at it, but I hope she does not start doing it because if she did any of the stuff I do I'd be sitting there like, if she bumps her knee on the table I start screaming."
