Lorraine Stanley has called on 'EastEnders' bosses to cast an Indian character for her alter-ego to hook up with.

The 41-year-old actress is keen for Karen Taylor to find love on the BBC One soap, and was hoping the laundrette worker would get together with fish and chip shop employee Masood Ahmed (Nitin Ganatra).

She said: "I thought she was going to go in there for a bit of Asian flavour [with Masood]. I thought they were going to go there but they didn't.

"I think she likes her Indian men. Bring someone in."

The 'Made in Dagenham' actress also hinted Karen's ex Mitch Baker (Roger Griffiths) could make a comeback following his brief appearance in Albert Square in March.

She added to Daily Star Online: "She's only had it once since Mitch, so either he comes back or she's on the lookout."

But Karen has had no time to look for love of late after being left devastated when her son Keegan Baker (Zack Morris) - Mitch's son - was stabbed by a gang as part of a knife crime storyline.

Keegan survived the attack but the thugs bludgeoned his pal Shazil Kazemi (Shaheen Jafargholi) to death, and Lorraine recently admitted she burst into tears watching the scenes unfold.

She said: "It's about getting it real and I think 'EastEnders' have done that well, and it's hard to watch because it's so real.

"When Keegan said 'mum', he was calling out for mum, I was watching it and crying.

"It was hard to watch and hard to film.

"When you bond with these people and watch them die, watch them suffer, it was difficult.

"But we're actors. Real people have to go through this."
