Perry Fenwick hopes EastEnders' writers will make his character a millionaire - like Only Fools and Horses' Del Boy and Rodney Trotter.

The 58-year-old star is keen for his hapless alter-ego to get a bit of luck in life, much like when the Trotter brothers - played by Sir David Jason and Nicholas Lyndhurst - became millionaires by selling a rare pocket watch for £6.2 million at Sotheby's in the sitcom's famous 'Time on Our Hands' Christmas special in 1996.

Perry said: "There's one song that illustrates Billy Mitchell to me, and it's 'Tubthumping' by Chumbawamba.

"The lyrics, 'I get knocked down but I get up again,' remind me of Billy, and ultimately, that's what I like about him.

"It's like when 'Only Fools and Horses' made Del Boy and Rodney millionaires - you've always got to be chasing the dream.

"And hopefully one day Billy will get his."

Billy recently split from his latest girlfriend Karen Taylor, played by Lorraine Stanley, and the pair always used to "talk filth" when they were acting alongside one another, including chatting about their characters getting it on in a skip.

He added to Inside Soap magazine: "Billy and Karen were great entertainment - myself and Lorraine Stanley just used to talk filth.

"Honestly, if you could have heard some of the stuff we used to say to each other off camera about the pair of them.

"We joked that Karen and Billy would go at it in an old skip if they happened to walk past one."
