Gaby Roslin has a positive outlook on life

The 59-year-old TV presenter admits that her social circle has become smaller over recent years - but Gaby has always made a concerted effort to surround herself with positive people.

Speaking to HELLO! magazine, she explained: "I think it's important to realise that the older you get, the fewer friends you have. You want to have people around you who are joy-spreaders. You know they have your back and they have yours.

"But at work or wherever, there will always be that toxic person and often you can't get away from them. With people like that, you have to remember that it's about them, not you. Then you can look at them in a different way."

Gaby has always had a positive outlook on life - even in the most challenging circumstances.

She explained: "I have always been like this, throughout my life, but I guess it was when my mum died when I was very young and, at the same time, my dad had bowel cancer and then a stroke. I had two parents in two different hospitals suffering from cancer.

"I was on a TV show a few weeks after my mum died and I remember people saying: 'Gosh, it's amazing you can be so happy after everything you've been through.' But get to wake up in the morning and see the sky, whether it's blue or grey - I get to take that first breath. I just thought: 'I'm never going to apologise for being happy again.'

"I've lost friends and family far too young and so I wake up and say: 'Wow, another day - let's do this.'"
