Game of Thrones now holds the title of HBO's most successful show ever after gaining an audience of 18.4 million viewers, 200,000 up on The Sopranos previous record of 18.2 million back in 2002.

The show is up 4 million viewers since its third season which premiered last year, and is constantly gaining new fans.

This figure of course doesn't take into account illegal downloads - Game of Thrones being 2013's most-pirated show - with millions flocking to torrent sites to watch the latest episode time and time again.

Renewed for a further two seasons, the series shows no signs of slowing down, but showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss have suggested their hopes to wrap the novel adaptation up in seven seasons total.

Game of Thrones continues Monday, June 9 at 9pm on Sky Atlantic and Sky Atlantic HD.
