'Got to Dance' is set to return in 2014 as a "major event" in Sky's broadcasting schedule next summer.
A fresh crop of amateur dance acts will have the chance to compete for the £250,000 cash prize when the Sky1 dancing competition returns next year.
Davina McCall, who is returning to host the show, said: "The joy of dance is completely infectious and I was bitten by that bug long ago. Each year I learn something new. Last year it was krumping - whatever next?
"I couldn't be happier to be returning to 'Got to Dance' and I can't wait to meet more dancers ready to take on the challenge. Let's get to twerk ... I mean work!"
The show - which is judged by Ashley Banjo, Kimberley Wyatt and Aston Merrygold - has been pushed back to the summer in order to become a "major event" in Sky1's broadcasting schedule.
Producers have decided to spice up the format of the programme by staging a 'Britain's Got Talent'-style week of nightly live semi-finals in front of an audience of 6,000 people.
Adam MacDonald, Sky1's director, explained: "This year we're building on that success, as series five grows to become a major event piece that will see the contest build to grand scale live shows stripped across a week this summer."
