The 51-year-old presenter, known for hosting the UK version of the cookery show, has admitted it would take a mega-deal to persuade him to up sticks and front the series Down Under.

Speaking exclusively to BANG Showbiz, he explained: "I have only been on it once and that is when they visited England, so I have no immediate plan to go to Australia. I'd like it very much but it is a very long way away.

"I think they would have to pay me a lot of money. It all depends on how much money they pay.

"It would have to be enough to leave your entire BBC career, wouldn't it? So it would have to be a lot of money."

But it's not just his career in Blightly he's concerned about as he doesn't know how his fiancée Anne-Marie Sterpini and his two grown-up children Tom and Libby, with his ex-wife Denise, would take the news if he just decided to leave his life in the UK behind in order to lap up the sun in Australia.

He said: "Also you would leave your family.

"Also, I have a got a lot of pigs I have collected over the years and pigs in my garden, I wouldn't be able to bring those. We are talking heart wrenching stuff here."

Meanwhile, Gregg will be offering further insight on food and drink at 'The Ideal Home Show', which returns to London Olympia from March 18 until April 3.
