The former 'Celebrity Big Brother' star, 54, has been released and will appear in court at a later date.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: "A 54-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with allegations of non-recent sexual offences.

"He has been released on an undertaking to appear in court at a later date.

"A report of the circumstances has been submitted to the procurator fiscal."

Hardeep has also appeared on 'Celebrity MasterChef' and 'The One Show', on which he was a reporter.

He was suspended by the BBC for six months in 2009 amid allegations of "inappropriate behaviour" from a researcher.

Hardeep said at the time: "Nobody has accused me of sexual harassment. I recognise I overstepped the mark and have apologised unreservedly."

A BBC spokeswoman said at the time: "Producers of 'The One Show' received a complaint regarding Hardeep's behaviour towards a production colleague.

"She made no formal complaint and has acknowledged that 'One Show' management took the issue extremely seriously.

"He was reprimanded and immediately apologised. He agreed to take some time away from the show to reflect on his behaviour. This leave of absence has been agreed to be six months."

In 2018, Hardeep was evicted from the 'Celebrity Big Brother' house after losing a head-to-head vote against psychic Sally Morgan.

After leaving the house, he said: "It's massively emotional ... I don't know what's been shown obviously, but for me, it's been such an honour to be associated with such a television institution."
