The 19-year-old model and actor – son of TV presenter Jeff Brazier, 43, and Jade, who died of cervical cancer in 2009 aged 27 – is already filming scenes that will be shown on the BBC1 soap this autumn.

He is playing Freddie Slater, the son of Little Mo Slater, last seen in Walford in 2006.

Using his Instagram page to announce the role on Thursday night (21.07.22), he said: “I’m really excited to be joining the cast of EastEnders – so far it’s been perfect. “Everybody has been so beautiful to me and made settling in easier than I could’ve hoped.

“Stepping into the acting world has always been a vision of mine and doing that with EastEnders as a Slater is a blessing, I’m very grateful. Loving every minute of Freddie so far and can’t wait to see what’s in store for him in Walford.”

Chris Clenshaw, EastEnders’ executive producer, added: “Freddie Slater is a chaotic 18-year-old with a sensitive soul.

“A modern-day lad who’s in touch with his spiritual side. He’s philosophical, accepting, but full of mischief and makes mistakes.

“Bobby is an amazing young addition to the EastEnders cast who brings heart and humility to the role of Freddie Slater and I can’t wait for audiences to get to know him.”

Bobby is the eldest child of Jade’s relationship with Jeff.

They had another boy, Freddie, in 2004, and split up shortly after the birth.

Bobby’s mum was propelled to fame 20 years ago when she appeared on the third series of Channel 4’s Big Brother.

Her name was dogged by a 2007 race row after she made remarks deemed discriminatory to her Indian housemate, actress Shilpa Shetty, 47, on spin-off show Celebrity Big Brother - including branding her “Shilpa Poppadom”.

Jade, who used her dying days to raise as much money as possible to secure the future of her family and raised awareness of the life-saving potential of early cancer checks, went on to marry her next boyfriend, Jack Tweed, 35, in February 2009, a month before her death.
