The former footballer is impressed his father - favourite to be named King of the Jungle on the reality TV series - has stuck it out Down Under, and admits he was concerned his dad may lose his temper on the show after seeing the football manager get angry in dressing rooms in the past.

He said: "There have been moments where I've thought, 'You're on the edge'. People say, 'Your dad is so lovely. He's so funny'.

"But he can lose it sometimes. In a dressing room I've seen him lose it and start throwing things.

"I was a bit worried that after a week or two he might go, 'I don't know if I need this'. But he's stuck it out."

The former England player - who divorced wife Louise Redknapp in December 2017 after 19 years of marriage - joked his dad has acted like dating app Tinder for him at times following Harry's conversation with fellow campmate Emily Atack, who admitted she had a crush on Jamie.

He said: "She's so sweet in the programme. It was such a nice conversation. I was like, 'Where are you going with this, dad?'

"It did make me laugh. He's like Tinder in there, my dad."

Harry has snubbed a number of meats served up to him and fellow campmates in the jungle, which has resulted in The Vamps guitarist James McVey donating some of his vegetables to the football manager.

And Jamie admits his father can be fussy when it comes to food.

Speaking on The Sun's 'Jungle VIP podcast', he added: "He likes simple food. I've said, 'Come on, Dad, let's go for Japanese food'.

"But he loves steak and chips. He can't do anything. He's useless. He can't even make a cup of tea."

Harry is best-priced 4/11 with Sky Bet to win the series, followed by Emily Atack at 11/2.

James is expected to be the next contestant eliminated from the jungle at odds of 6/5.
