The 32-year-old reality star is the latest to join a list of celebrities taking to the rink on the next series of the ITV skating show when it returns in early 2023 and admitted that while it is a "scary" idea because he has very little experience on the ice, he would still "love to win."

He said: "I'm so excited! I wanted something in my life that would bring me structure. It's more serious than what I normally do. I'm not the best skater, I did it when I was maybe like 11. It's scary, it's a competition. When I did 'The Jump', which was sort of similar, I don't know how I won that. But again, this is one of those shows that I'm looking at thinking 'I would love to win.'"

The former 'TOWIE' star - who placed fourth on 'I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here' back in 2013 - explained that he had an audition for the show almost a decade ago but was too "immature" back then and feels "ready" to take on the challenge now.

Speaking on ITV's 'This Morning', he added: "When I come out the jungle in 2013,I did an interview with the producers but I was just messing about and was probably a bit more immature then. I like to say I've matured! Back then, it wouldn't have been right for me and I believe that and I think the producers knew that but at this time in my life I am so ready for this. I just know. It's not an easy thing to do, it's five and a half months work. I'm already training now. I was in the gym this morning."

The 'Celebs Go Dating' star - who is currently single - added that he wants to be "cursed", in a nod to the notion that 'Strictly Come Dancing' contestants often fall in love with their professional partners.

He said: "I want to come out and impress myself and do what I can really. That's what I want to do. I'll worry once the skating is over - then I'll look at the judges. I want to be cursed! Is there a curse on this one? I'm single! I'm here to fall in love with the ice."

Joey is the seventh famous face to be announced for the competition and joins a lineup that includes 'Drag Race' contestant The Vivienne, former 'EastEnders' actress Patsy Palmer, football legend John Fashanu, 'Love Island' star Ekin-Su Culculoglu, Olympic gymnast Nile Wilson and Coronation Street's Mollie Gallagher.
