The former Aston Villa footballer has become the second star revealed for next year's series of the ITV and ITVX ice skating competition - which features a judging the panel of Jayne Torvill, Christopher Dean, Oti Mabuse, and Ashley Banjo - and he can't wait to get started.

The 60-year-old star said: “I'm so excited to be a part of 'Dancing on Ice'.

"I don't think it'll come as a surprise to people that I'm very competitive - I am definitely in it to win it. And this may be one of the scariest things I've ever signed up for but I couldn't be more ready for the challenge!"

On Monday (03.10.22), Patsy Palmer - who played Bianca Jackson on the BBC One soap ‘EastEnders’ - was the first celeb to be named for the next series of show, which will return in early 2023.

The 50-year-old actress said: “I can’t believe I’m the first one.

“This was the one I really had to think about, I wanted to challenge myself, get out of my comfort zone.

I've turned it down before because I was terrified, but when I turned 50 I made a pact to get out of my comfort zone. This is for all the 50 year olds. I'm actually quite scared now.”

Patsy - who relocated to Malibu after she left Albert Square - won’t be returning for training but will come back to Blighty for the competition.

She said: “I am coming back, but I'll be training in Los Angeles, which is fantastic.

"I'm not competitive but this time I'm gonna say let's try and win it. I'm gonna focus on the training and use meditation, and this will really put it to the test for me.”
