The 32-year-old star - who played Theresa McQueen on the soap from 2008 until 2016 - will be back in the family home as E4 airs 'Hollyoaks Favourites' to keep viewers happy amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Starting tonight (02.04.20), the soap will look back to classic moments on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays at 7pm.

She told RadioTimes.com: "I'd been away for a while living in LA and touring in musicals, and then I came back to the UK.

"'Hollyoaks' are always in touch about the possibility of me going back one day, and when they asked me to do this I was 100 per cent on board.

"They are so engaged with the fans and when the amount of episodes was cutting down they knew the audience would love to see some old ones. It's such a genius idea."

The soap is to cut its schedule to just two episodes a week from Monday (06.04.20), due to the current health crisis, but Jorgie loved being back on set to film her special appearance.

She added: "My heart melted to see everyone, I hadn't been there in four years. It was lovely being back with my 'Hollyoaks' family.

"And actually quite a treat to have my make-up done, in theatre you have to do it yourself. I'd forgotten what a luxury it was!

"I had to come in an hour earlier than my call time because I knew I'd get chatting to everyone!"

In a statement, the soap previously explained its decision and the TV schedule over the coming weeks.

The show confirmed: "It is with a heavy heart that we have made the decision to pause filming of 'Hollyoaks'.

"From Monday 30th March, we will be reducing the number of our weekly new episodes from five down to three, which will air Monday to Wednesday.

"To make sure we stay on air every week night, fans can look forward to extra special episodes every Thursday and Friday on E4, as we begin a brand new series of 'Hollyoaks Favourites'.

"Introduced by Kieron Richardson and Jorgie Porter, this series will give viewers a chance to revisit some of our biggest episodes, from weddings, bust-ups, heartbreaks and some of our biggest and best stunts.

"We will start the series with Mercedes' fourth wedding, to Dr Browning."

Channel 4 then confirmed the show's schedule would be further reduced to two episodes a week.
