Karl Michael has banned himself from having any "morbid" thoughts ahead of 'The Voice' live semi-final.

The 27-year-old hopeful - who is mentored by Danny O'Donoghue on the BBC One show - feels confident about showing the coaches what he is capable of when he performs R. Kelly's 'I Believe I Can Fly' in the penultimate stage of the competition tonight (15.06.13) after giving himself a morale-boosting pep talk.

He exclusively told BANG Showbiz: "I know I've just got to grab a pair of balls and just do it.

"I've gone away and done a lot of thinking. I have to stop being morbid because I'm so happy to be here and I don't want to mope around. Danny's been a great help.

"I'm excited for this Saturday and really excited about the song. I would love to be able to fly on two wires but unfortunately that isn't possible!"

Karl has also been taking his mind off a negative outcome in the competition by treating his main rivals and good friends, Mike Ward and Joseph Apostol - who are both in Sir Tom Jones' team - to slap up meals.

He added "I've been cooking for Mike and Jospeh and they love it! I made them the ultimate fry up the other day. And I've also made them spaghetti bolognese and Joseph couldn't believe how good it tasted!

"I couldn't give away my secret recipe though!"

But the trio look set to face some stiff competition from fellow semi-finalists Andrea Begley, Matt Henry, Cleo Higgins and Ash Morgan if Virgin Media's The Hotlist is anything to go by.

Data taken from the new measurement tool has revealed the four contestants all featured in the programme's most popular episode on Saturday May 11, which was watched on YouTube by almost two million viewers.

The Voice's live semi-final airs on BBC One tonight at 7pm.
