Miranda Hart

Miranda Hart is to film a Christmas fitness DVD.

The funnywoman is set to create a comical version of the traditional workout tapes - which have been made by a string of TV stars in the past such as Davina McCall, Natalie Cassidy and Josie Gibson - in a bid to inspire people to fight festive fat.

A source told The Sun newspaper: "Miranda is a woman of many talents.

"But even her biggest fans will be surprised that she is doing this workout DVD. Washboard stomachs and finely toned biceps are not something you would normally associate with her.

"But whatever the routine ends up being, there is one thing that it will definitely be -- funny."

The 40-year-old star - who previously vowed to lose three stone in 2012 by shedding pounds every Monday - completed a 1,000-mile bike ride from John O'Groats to Land's End for Comic Relief in 2010, and joked she couldn't find any of her muscles when she was training for the epic journey.

She previously said: "I was very sporty at school but things have gone downhill since.

"Suddenly I was forced into training sessions which involved very worrying terms like 'squats', 'lunges' and 'core muscles'.

"It turns out I had no muscles at all -- we couldn't find them."
