The 57-year-old actor's incarnation of the Time Lord is set to make an appearance in the highly-anticipated sci-fi programme 'Class', but the extent of his involvement is yet to be revealed, along with the rest of the cast line-up.

A source told the RadioTimes.com: "It will have a close connection with 'Doctor Who' so don't be surprised if Peter pops up."

The new drama is set in Coal Hill, the school that previously featured on the show, and which Clara Oswald (Jenna Coleman) recently taught at in Shoreditch, east London.

The programme - a Young Adult series set - has been penned by YA author Patrick Ness and will consist of eight episodes, each lasting 45 minutes.

Patrick previously said: "I can't wait for people to meet the heroes of Class, to meet the all-new villains and aliens, to remember that the horrors of the darkest corners of existence are just about on par with having to pass your A-Levels."

Filming for the new series will kick off in April but the BBC remains undecided as to how it plans to screen the show.

Meanwhile, Peter broke hearts across the country last month when he hinted he may leave 'Doctor Who' next year so new show runner Chris Chibnall can have a "fresh start" when he takes the reins from current producer Steven Moffat.
