The 'Great British Bake Off' judge gets her 71-year-old hubby John Playfair to snap photos of her and her supporters so she can avoid unflattering selfies of her being shared on social media.

The 78-year-old chef told BBC satellite radio: "My new husband, who I've only been married to for two years, is the most terrific photographer.

"He whips people's phone off them and says, 'I'll take the picture. That's my job.'

"And it's very good, because when they do a selfie, it's up your nostrils. You look as if you're on Skype.

"And I'm vain enough to want it to reappear on Twitter looking good, with my book in front."

Prue was married from 1974 to author Rayne Kruger, who died in December 2002, aged 80, and in October 2016 she married her current husband, who is a retired clothes designer.

Prue - who has written 12 cookery books including 'Leith's Cookery Bible' and seven novels - trained at the Cordon Bleu Cookery School and then began a catering business.

The businesswoman has previously acknowledged that judging on 'Bake Off' has broadened her fan base to a young audience who weren't even born when she was writing some of her cookbooks.

She said: "I'm 78, and there is this whole new lease of life and a young audience who have never heard of me.

"They weren't alive when I was writing cookbooks before.

"So it's been really stimulating, and a lot of fun."
