The ‘Sexy Beast’ actor, 67, plays west London gangster Bobby Glass in 55-year-old filmmaker Guy’s new Netflix series version of his movie ‘The Gentlemen’, but has admitted they fell out years ago before eventually making up.

Ray told Virgin Radio’s ‘Chris Evans Breakfast Show’: “We had words years ago – a fallout.

“I was going to do (Guy’s 1998 film) ‘Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels’ and it didn’t happen for whatever reason.

“And I thought he was in the wrong and he probably thought I was in the wrong.

“Fisticuffs never came about, thank God. Over the years we snubbed one another but then you grow up.

“We had a meet and had a little cuddle and a chat about it. And he is a good guy.

“All those wasted years… .”

Ray also recently told The Independent it has taken him and Guy years to work together due to their fall-out.

He said: “We haven’t always had the best relationship, put it that way. It was back when we were younger, but then you grow up.”

Despite sharing his newfound friendship with Guy, the actor also told The Independent he would rather work with his old friend Gary Oldman, 65, if he ever got the chance to do a film version of ‘King Lear’.

He said: “With Guy, who’s brilliant at what he does, he heightens everything. He’d give it pace.

“Someone like Gary would be much more into the reality side of things. It depends what alley you want to go down.

“I think, for my style, I’d probably go with Gary.

“I’d want to do it with Gary! But then again, if it was only offered by Guy, I’d go with Guy.”
