The ex 'Coronation Street' actor and former 'The Only Way Is Essex' have recently purchased a new house in Manchester and are said to have had the idea to share their renovations to the property in a new series.

Ryan and Lucy had met with TV executives to discuss the plans but they were not given the green light.

A source told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "Ryan and Lucy thought their makeover show plan would be a dead cert for ITV, given their previous profiles on 'Coronation Street' and 'The Only Way Is Essex'.

"It would have had the added bonus that they'd have got lots of free labour and materials, and been paid to appear in the show.

"But ITV turned them down. They've also punted the idea to Channel 5 but haven't heard anything back."

Ryan recently joked that he was "still in trouble" with his partner after he bought the house without telling her.

The 36-year-old star - who shares 12-month old son Roman with Lucy - told 'Lorraine': "I'm still in trouble today. We're not even in the house yet, it's a building site. I can't see light at the end of the tunnel.

"Eventually it'll be OK, but right now, everyone knows moving house is hard work, I've taken on more than I can chew with the house, but eventually we'll be happy."

Thomas has previously revealed his wish to live somewhere in the world with warmer weather, such as California.

He explained: What it comes down to is the weather. The weather changes everything, if it's not nice weather you stay indoors.

"In California the weather is good all year round so what do people do? They spend their time outside. Playing basketball, on the beach, going for runs. I feel like that is a happy life when you have the good weather. It keeps people motivated."
