The 36-year-old singer - who released her debut album, 'Gotta Tell You', at the age of 16 - has revealed she wants to replace Jennifer Hudson on the TV show's judging panel.

Samantha - who now has a four-year-old daughter called Sage - explained: "I've always loved 'The Voice'. I think it's a fantastic format. I love that it's all about vocal talent rather than someone's image. That makes it really special."

Jennifer, 37, is quitting her role as a coach after three years on the popular TV show, and bosses are currently seeking a suitable replacement.

Samantha, for her part, has revealed she'd jump at the opportunity to join the programme's star-studded judging panel.

The Grammy-nominated star - who has also appeared in a number of movies - told the Daily Star Sunday newspaper: "If there's a spot available on the show, I would absolutely love to jump in and become a coach.

"After so many years in the industry, it would be amazing to be able to mentor aspiring singers. The show also looks like a lot of fun."

The most-recent series of the show featured a judging panel that included Jennifer, will.i.am, Sir Tom Jones and Olly Murs.
