A whole host of announcements have been made in regards to the future of Netflix original series Stranger Things, after creators, the Duffer Brothers, released an open letter to fans.
They revealed that Season 4 would be split into two Volumes, the first of which would premiere on May 27th, before the concluding episodes dropped on July 1st.
Not only this, but they confirmed that the show's fifth season would be its last.
"Seven years ago, we planned out the complete story arc for Stranger Things," they explained in the letter. "At the time, we predicted the story would last four to five seasons. It proved too large to tell in four, but - - as you'll soon see for yourselves - - we are now hurtling toward our finale."
The duo also seemingly confirmed that they would be looking to create spinoff shows when Stranger Things wrapped up, as they said: "There are still many more exciting stories to tell within the world of Stranger Things; new mysteries, new adventures, new unexpected heroes. But first we hope that you stay with us as we finish this tale of a powerful girl named Eleven and her brave friends, of a broken police chief and a ferocious mom, of a small town called Hawkins and an alternate dimension known only as the Upside Down."
The fourth season of Stranger Things will see Hawkins attempt to recover after the terror and destruction that reigned down during the Battle of Starcourt.
Our familiar yet unlikely heroes return, navigating the complexities of high school and being separated for the first time, in perhaps the most vulnerable moment in their lives.
When a new supernatural threat emerges, they're forced to tackle yet another gruesome mystery that, if solved, could bring an end to the horrors of the Upside Down.
To celebrate the upcoming season, a collection of four location posters was unveiled, showcasing the Creel House, Russia, California and, the terrifying lab. You can see them for yourself below:
