Things are about to get even more complicated for Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) in the second season of The Flash, after he spent the majority of the show's first outing saving Central City from villainous forces and a huge vortex that threatened the world's existence.

Fortunately we discover that Barry was able to close the vortex, but not before those from a parallel universe made it through, and enemies from those multiple alternate universes now have access to Central City.

Atom Smasher (Adam Copeland) is one of those threats, who we see in the video looking poised to take on the Scarlet Speedster. Jay Garrick (Teddy Sears) is also introduced, but he's a friendly speedster from another universe sent to warn Barry of the dangers he will face.

We also see that the flirtatious relationship between Cisco (Carlos Valdes) and The Golden Glider Lisa Snart (Peyton List) continues, and are promised 'new threats' throughout the season.

Garrick's entry into the series was first hinted at in the first season when his trademarked hat with wings emerged from a portal in the finale. That episode also paved the way for appearances from the likes of Caitlin Snow's (Danielle Panabaker) Killer Frost in the future, with glimpses also given of the cast in DC's Legends of Tomorrow.

The Flash season 2 premieres Tuesday, October 6 at 8pm/7 central on The CW.
