At the end of season 6, fans of the series were left annoyed when a cliffhanger ending saw Negan end the life of one of Rick's crew. The identity of the victim however has remained a secret and will continue to do so until the show's return in October.

Executive Producer Greg Nicotero said in a new interview with EW: "Negan is that kind of guy… He's the kind of guy who imagines himself on stage at a high school production and he loves every second of it. So, I don't really see a lot of quiet contemplative moments with Negan. I feel like with Negan it's really going to be about him gesticulating and him sort of relishing in the sound of his own voice while he commands the stage in front of whoever's alive."

Despite only joining the show as a recurring character at first, Morgan has now been bumped up to a series regular, meaning viewers will be seeing a lot more of him and his infamous barbed wire baseball bat Lucille…

The Walking Dead returns to AMC in the US on October 9, following in the UK on FOX.
