The 40-year-old actress reprises her role as Metropolitan Police bomb squad 'Expo' Lana Washington in the second series of the ITV drama and was keen to delve into a subject that hasn't been featured on mainstream television.

Speaking at a Q and A attended by BANG Showbiz and other media, Vicky said: "We've been told that the influx of people who have applied to become Expos, females as well which is quite rare, has been huge.

"That's what attracted me to the role initially because I had never heard of the word Expo. I'd heard about bomb disposal but it was a world that had largely been left untouched apart from 'The Hurt Locker'. For popular television it wasn't something that we knew about."

The second series sees Lana and the team faced with a new terrorist threat in London and executive producer Jed Mercurio says that the cast and crew worked closely with experts in the field to accurately portray the "heroic" work that they do to keep people safe.

The 'Line of Duty' creator said: "We do work very closely with the advisors because we want to get the technical detail right and also it's really important to pay tribute to the work that they do.

"Anything that this series does that makes people understand what a heroic and important job they do is really pleasing for us."

'Trigger Point' returns to ITV1 and ITVX on Sunday (28.01.24) at 9pm.
