Wes Nelson has advised this year’s ‘Dancing on Ice’ contestants to “overcommit”.

The 'Nice to Meet Ya' singer – who came second on the 2019 show to former ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ professional James Jordan – urged the 2022 hopefuls to go above and beyond when it comes to training as the more they throw themselves into the challenges on the ice, the less likely they are to get injured.

He said: “Really throw yourself at it because when I was doing it, we had the allotted training time but we always did extra, constantly trying to do extra.

“Learning new skills is scary and it can be scary to commit because you’re scared to fall, but it’s almost better to sort of over commit, you’ll end up getting less injuries.

“Over commit, don’t half arse it, basically.”

The former ‘Love Island’ star hasn’t skated very much since doing the show and though his skills aren’t as sharp as they used to be, he’s confident he’d still impress on the ice.

He exclusively told BANG Showbiz: “I haven’t been skating for ages. I have skated since very, very briefly but I wasn’t as good… it’s like riding a bike, once you go back to it, you start and pick it up. I’m not saying I’m doing the headbanger, but I can still skate.”

Meanwhile, Wes recently admitted he "genuinely" thought he was going to die when he successfully completed the selection process on 'Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins'.

He said: "I'm so glad I did it. At the time, I was like, 'What is going on?'.

"There was a couple of moments where in normal life I’d have just quit. I'd have walked away, like, ‘No, this is ridiculous, I am gonna die.’ I actually thought I was going to die in the gas challenge.

"I genuinely, genuinely thought I was gonna die.

"You know when people say ‘Oh yeah, I thought I was gonna die?’ No, no, no. I genuinely thought I was going to die.

"I was screaming, I was like ‘I can’t breathe’. But yeah. It was the most difficult thing I’ve ever done in my life but I’m so glad I did it, I've learned so much about myself."
