Joe Swash
A nervous Nicola and Joe arrived at the challenge greeted by Ant and Dec and a customised ice cream van.
Ant & Dec revealed the rules of the challenge and both contestants’ fears were realised - they would eat Bush Tucker.
There would be five rounds, taking turns they both had the option to choose the first meal presented to them or pass to their opponent. If they pass they would have to eat the next meal set in front of them. They could pass, but if their opponent ate their dish, they would lose the point.
With both keen to get the trial underway, Joe is presented with the first course; ‘A Croc Ice’ which contained three crocodile eyes, all of which had to be eaten. He quickly passed to Nicola and was then presented with ‘Scorpions on a Stick’ which contained two dead scorpions and would both need to be swallowed to earn the point.
Joe went first and struggled to put the first scorpion in his mouth. Gagging he admitted to the hosts that he had a "bad gag reflex".
He completed the first challenge and now Nicola had to eat all three crocodile’s eyes to be level. Gagging she managed to eat the first eye and then opted to eat the last two at the same time.
For the second round, Nicola chose to keep her first choice of ‘Cricket’s Knickerbocker Glory’ which left Joe with ‘Cockroach Knickerbocker Glory’. Nicola decided that speed was the best way to deal with this challenge and stuffed all three crickets into her mouth. Joe found it harder screaming "I didn’t know cockroaches had wings! I’ve got a wing stuck in my mouth." He finally managed to swallow all three to equal Nicola.
In the third round the next course to be presented was a ‘Croc Foot’. Three toes and a chunk of the base had to be eaten to win the point. Passed once again to Nicola, Joe was then left with Bush Fowl Feet. Screaming "that looks like a hand," he passed on the challenge whilst Nicola successfully completed hers and took the lead.
Now 3-2 to Nicola, she was then presented with five silkworms and opted to keep them, this left Joe with one witchety grub. Gagging, Nicola placed all five silkworms in her mouth and ate them. Joe struggled with the grub, gagging repeatedly as gunge came oozing out of his mouth. Encouraged by Nicola, he finally managed to swallow it.
The final dish was a blind course, both celebrities had to pick from a ‘whatever’s on the stick’ or ‘whatever’s in the tub’. Joe chose the stick and was presented with a crocodile’s penis and testicles. "Is that the bit where they wee out of?" Nicola asked. "I would presume so, it is a willy," Ant replied.
Nicola would have to eat the testicles of a kangaroo to win the trial. As he managed to put it in his mouth, Joe was almost sick, but he completing the challenge. Determined to win Nicola attempted to swallow the kangaroo testicle. Struggling Joe rubbed her back and she managed to finally complete the challenge.
Nicola succeeded in eating all five dishes and won the trial.
