The two groups of celebrities met each other in separate condominiums at the Palazzo Versace, Surfer’s Paradise, Australia, yesterday (SUNDAY) and each group thought they were waiting for the rest of the contestants to arrive.

The two groups are:

Croc Creek:
Rodney, Anna, Marc, Cerys and John.
Snake Rock:
Janice, J, Gemma and Lynne.Dec visited the Snake Rock group to explain the twist to this year’s show, however, at first Janice thought he was the fifth contestant.

As he entered the room she exclaimed: "Another hottie. Hi where are you from?"Dec replied: "I’m from Newcastle."

He then told the group: "I don’t normally see you the morning you go in - I have a couple of bits of very big news for you."

Janice then realised she had dropped a clanger and said: "Oh you’re a presenter - sorry."Earlier Janice was the first to enter the plush room.

She joked: "I need a bag so I can steal some of these Versace plates - these are worth a fortune!"J then walked in next and Janice exclaimed: "This looks good!"

She added: "I’m so happy you walked in even if you turn out to be a creep."

J reassured her: "I’m not an axe murderer."

Janice told J that she would be washing her undies in the jungle: "I’ll be washing my underwear. I have a lot of underwear - are you a cross dresser?!"

J replied: "No."

J then warned her: "The problem with the jungle is there are 12 million people watching. You will be watched and scrutinised by millions."

Janice asked: "Will Prince Charles be watching?"

J to

ld her: "If he knows you’re on it."Janice then asked J if he was an actor and he told her he was a musician. She asked: "Do you know who else is on this? You’re not the Right Said Fred guy are you?"

J said: "No. I’m definitely not Richard Fairbrass."

Gemma was next to arrive and Janice said: "My God she’s gorgeous."

Janice told them: "if there’s anything I do that’s annoying just punch me."Gemma munched on the fruit and pastries and said: "All this is going to be gone it’s like the last supper."

Lynne Franks was next into the room

Lynne ordered a green tea and Janice joked: "Green tea? How about a nice pint? I don’t drink but I could start."

She then walked into the kitchen and jokingly took a swig of white wine from a bottle.

As the Croc Creek group waited, Ant went into the room and said: "I bet you weren’t expecting to see me. I have some very important news for you. This year things are different. For the first time ever you won’t go into camp as one group. You’ll be split into two camps. Your camp will be Croc Creek and your rival camp will be Snake Rock.

"You will be going head to head as you compete in the Bushtucker Trials and, at the end of the day, only the winning team will eat. Choppers are waiting to take you into the jungle. Good luck, and may the best camp win."

The campmates said they were very excited to be split into two teams and were raring to go.

Rodney, who seemed delighted to meet his fellow contestants and greeted them all with a cup of coffee, said: "We’re a five man team and if you don’t win, you don’t eat. In that case - let’s go."

John said: "If it’s now a battle, I love a battle, it’s a challenge."

Cerys added: "I love a challenge, I’m really excited. I’m really happy in a team together, I’m really happy with everyone even though I haven’t met them before.

"I want to know who the other team is and will we get to watch them squirm like we will be doing?"

John just had some reservations about the team’s name. He said: "Do you think that means there’ll be crocodiles there? Because I really don’t like crocodiles.

"It’s a bit of a shock, because I’d only just got to grips with how it works, but I like the competitive elements. It’s an all out war and I’m up for that.

"After first meeting the other guys they seem a great bunch. But I am nervous, I don’t know what to expect."

Marc added: "I think we’re on the winning team."

Earlier as the campmates met they discovered they are all determined to do one thing whilst on the show - catch a fish with their bare hands.

And Marc charmed his lady campmates by telling Anna she looked beautiful and Cerys that he was a big fan of hers.

He said: "Anna, you look beautiful."

But she replied: "It’s because I’ve got loads of make-up on. You won’t recognise me in the morning, you’ll be like, ‘who’s she? Where did Anna go?’"

Marc told Cerys: "I’m over the moon to see you here Cerys. I think you’re great. I love the way you stay true to your Welsh roots as well."

Rodney asked: "How do we feel about gutting a fish? I don’t understand why people are starving when there’s fish. Although some are poisonous, but only the perch and they swim upstream. If you eat it it gets into your system and it’s toxic."

Anna said: "You’ve been doing your research. I don’t like that they still move after you’ve chopped their head and tail off."

And Cerys added: "I got some advice from a man on the plane about how to catch them with your bare hands. They won’t let you bring bows and arrows in."

Rodney added: "They have crayfish as well."

Anna said: "Well why is everyone so starving? If we caught you one of those John, you could do something with it."

But John said: "Yes, with garlic mayonnaise and a bottle of wine. I’ve given up smoking and now I’m going to have to give up alcohol and smoking."

Marc said he loved smoking and John replied: "Well, if you smoke can you smoke in my direction?"
