Esther announced to the group that they will have to undertake Bush Battles which will earn elimination for the first eviction.
Reading from the laminate, Esther informed the disgruntled group that they would have to compete against each other, in groups of three, to earn immunity. With all the celebrities eligible for the Bush Battles, the group were told that the winner would be exempt from the first public vote, the third place celebrity would automatically be eligible for the vote and the second place celebrity will earn a second chance to win exemption.
With one Bush Battle everyday for the next four day, the celebrities would have to decide amongst themselves who would like to do the trial and why. Today’s trial was Tactics. "I would like to get it out of the way," said David, "Tactics. I’m good at tactics," agreed Martina and Joe decided that he would like to be the third person to attempt the battle.
As they were leaving camp to head to the battle, Joe and David had second thoughts at competing against the tennis champ. "Right David, we’ve got to bring Martina down," said Joe.
"How are going to do that?" David replied. "This is the most formidable sportswoman in this century. We must be potty to go up against her, or do we want to get out. Maybe we just want to go home."
Arriving at the challenge, they all read the rules to the first Bush Battle entitled ‘The Big Drip’. There were three perspex tubes that contained coloured liquid, and each celebrity would be responsible for one of the tubes. At the other end were three containers which would refill the tubes.
They would have to undo the tap that made the liquid continually flow. They had to capture the liquid in a bucket, and refill the tubes by running to the other end and pouring it into the container which lead back into the tubes. If they lost too much water and it went below the level line, they lose.
Unsure of the tactics involved, Joe opted to follow Martina’s lead and fill the bucket to the top. This meant fewer trips to refill the tubes. David, decided to do the opposite: "I’m a bit of a gambler... they’re going for full buckets I’ll go for half buckets."
As they tried to concentrate on not losing too much water they all commented on each others tactics. Both boys were impressed by Martina knack of not spilling any liquid from the bucket, whilst David spilled one of his refills and had to start again.
But the conversation soon turned to Martina’s bottom, Joe jokingly slapped Martina’s behind and said: "I can’t resist your peachy bottom."
Laughing Martina replied: "Thank you."
"My pleasure," retorted Joe.
"Mine too darling," said Martina. "I’ve got a good bottom," she added.
"You’ve got a good bum man," replied Joe.
Joe successfully won the trial, Martina was second and David was third. Joe is now the first celebrity to be immune from the first eviction, whilst David will now automatically be up for the public vote. Martina will have one more chance to win herself immunity but will have to wait to find out what the battle will be.
