Sarah-Jane Crawford has been confirmed to host this year's Xtra Factor.

The BBC Radio 1Xtra DJ says she is "thrilled" to land the coveted role on the 'X Factor' spin-off show following Caroline Flack's announcement she has quit the job after three years.

Sarah-Jane wrote on Twitter this morning (12.06.14): "Morning! Really thrilled to say that I'll be the new host of #XtraFactor this year!!!! Thanks to the X team for seeing something in me! (sic)"

The 29-year-old beauty also tipped her hat to her predecessor, claiming she has "massive respect" for Caroline, 34.

She added: "Massive respect goes out to @carolineflack1 who's an amazing broadcaster and delivered 3 years of a brilliant series #girlpower xxx (sic)"

Sarah-Jane had been hotly tipped to replace Caroline on 'The Xtra Factor' and is said to have blown away show boss Simon Cowell in her audition.

A source revealed: "Simon Cowell has been bowled over by Sarah-Jane, he thinks she will be brilliant."

Caroline was hired to host 'The Xtra Factor' in 2011 along with Olly Murs - who quit the show after two years - and was later joined by comedian Matt Richardson.

Matt, 23, has also confirmed his departure from the show after one series and congratulated Sarah-Jane on taking over.

He tweeted: "Major Congrats to @DJSarahJane on xtra, I shall remember it well whilst writing my new tour. Advice: Judges Houses is not a holiday (it is)! (sic)"
