NOTE: Spoilers up to the third season finale

Now that we know David Clarke is actually alive and well, some more information about where season four of Revenge is headed has been revealed in a new interview with show producer Aaron Harberts.

"If Victoria Grayson manages to get to him first, she could convince David to turn on Emily. If Victoria gets to David before Emily does, then she has the upper hand. She has the control and could he be manipulated by her?" he said to E! Online.

After being locked up in a mental institution by her once daughter-in-law, Victoria is seeking revenge just as much as Emily, who now has to decide what to do about the death of her fiancé Aiden.

Executive producer Sunil Nayar has also revealed little slices of information about the show's return.

On Victoria, Nayar said: "you're going to find her in a very new state of mind... There's almost a calm about her."

Conrad's fate will also be discovered in the first moments of the new season, whilst Emily will gain a handsome new love interest and Jack returns as a whole new man - a cop according to EW.

"He's seen a lot. He's learned a lot. He wants to take control of his life and he has in a cool and sexy way." says Ted Sullivan, who also reveals that Nolan has a "lot to deal with", with the arrival of his old friend David.

"David changed his life. He was basically a surrogate father figure to him."

The show may feel different this time around, as he explains "we're building an entirely new framework for the show."

"Everything has changed. The old dynamics don't work in this new reality. We spent a lot of time (and blood, sweat and tears) trying to redefine this new frontier. It's been a scary experience and the first few months were more than daunting. But once we found a groove, things started laying out in a fun and electrifying way."

Revenge returns to ABC on September 28 at 9pm ET.
